What Are Glitter Tattoos?

Unlike face-painting, which only tends to last for a day, a glitter tattoo will last anywhere from up to 7 days to a few weeks. I have had customers tell me their tattoo lasted for weeks and I myself have had one last for a month.

The life of the tattoo depends on a few different things. Areas that are subjected to the friction of socks, shoes, or tight-fitting clothes may cause the tattoo to rub off sooner than the 7 days because of the friction caused in those areas. Another factor in how long the glitter tattoo will last is the amount of oil in your skin. If your skin is naturally oily, that tattoo can last up to 7 days, possibly longer, if you take care of it properly. People that have drier skin are the ones that are likely to have their body art last longer than a week.

Glitter tattoos are waterproof, so you can still swim and shower normally with it. When getting out of the pool, I do recommend patting it dry instead of rubbing it. During showers, don't use soap directly on the glitter tattoo and pat dry as well. Definitely still shower as usual normally do so it can keep your skin from becoming too oily. If it becomes too oily, it will cause the tattoo to not last as long.

All the products that we use are hypoallergenic. The glue that is used to apply the glitter is gentle, non-toxic, latex-free cosmetic glue made specifically for use on your skin. The only part of the skin it shouldn't be used on is any irritated, cut or bruised skin. It is also not recommended to use it on your face or near your eyes. The glue is safe, but it just risks getting glitter in your eyes and that can cause irritation. Temporary tattoos are great for all ages, from small kids to grandparents. They're safest on children 3 years old because children younger than 3 years old usually move around too much and it's difficult to do the glitter tattoo properly.

The beauty about glitter tattoos is that they are so simple to create, literally anyone can do it, and the results are always creative and beautiful. The steps are very simple. For the best results, it is recommended that you clean the area of the skin first with alcohol or another skin cleaning solution. After your skin is dry, you have to choose the glitter stencil design you like. You then remove the adhesive part of the glitter stencil and place it flat onto the skin area that you cleaned. Then you apply thin layer of body glue and wait a minute or two for the glitter glue to dry and become clear. Then select the colors of your choice and apply the glitter by using a small cosmetic brush. After applying the glitter, pat the glitter down and remove any excess glitters with a bigger cosmetic brush.
